The Paranormal Niche-Spiritual Protection-Part 2
Something very important is protecting your home not only physically but spiritually as well. Negativity can enter your home several ways. A negative energy can enter your home by attaching itself to you, a loved one and even your child. So you want to try and prevent that from happening, but how?
Here a few different steps:
Cleanse your home: Clean your home really good. I actually do “Spring Cleaning and Fall Cleaning” (You know that deep down wash all of the walls move all of the furniture cleaning). Afterwards I will walk through my home with White Sage and smudge each room. Susan Norgren explained to me it is even important to open all of the closets and all of the drawers when you are doing a house cleansing/blessing.
How do I Smudge?
There are few different ways to smudge. Everyone has their preferences some would rather use a smudge stick which is a tightly tied bundle of white sage and cleansing herbs. You light the smudge stick until it has a good smoke coming from it, then you wave the smoke around your home.
I have always preferred to use white sage in a fire proof container (I use an Abalone shell). I light the sage and when it begins to let off a good smoke I wave the container around smudging my home and myself. I also add a little dried lavender to the white sage for extra purification.
Make sure all of your windows are closed except for one. As you smudge sort of work your way towards the window- allowing the smoke to escape. By doing this, you are cleansing your space of all negative and bad energy. Sage acts as the “Warrior” and drives away bad energy.
Many times after I smudge my home I will light some Sweetgreass which invites sweet blessings into your home. You may also use rosemary, which is good for additional blessings and purification.
Another one of my favorite things to do is make a Lavender Mist. It is really easy to do. Get a spray bottle and fill it with distilled (or my favorite rain) water. Add some lavender essential oil to the water and lightly shake the bottle to mix together. Use the amount of Lavender scent you like, I usually add a good bit because I love the scent of Lavender. Afterwards, walk around your home and lightly mist the air. You will love it for so many reasons!! Lavender is used for: purification, protection, love and relaxation.
Other Methods of Protecting Your Home:
Sprinkle Sea Salt across the outside of your doors and windows. Sea Salt is used for purification, protection and cleansing. It is said that if you put a line of sea salt across your door, nothing evil or negative can enter. To enhance this protection add a little dried lavender over the salt.
Place Angelica Root in each corner of your home on the outside. Angelica Root is pretty known as the Guardian Herb of protection. I have a pretty good selection of different herbs in my eCrater Store
Hang Medicine Bundles over your doors and windows
How to do I make Medicine Bundles?
Use 3 x 3 squares of red cloth. Add a mixture of protection herbs such as: white sage, cedar, angelica root, sulfur/brimstone, lavender, blessed thistle and rosemary. Grind these herbs by using a mortar and pestle, infusing the herbs with protection energy. Ask the Divine Force to bless these herbs.
Place a small amount of the herbal mixture in the middle of your red squares and tie it close with a white thread. Hang above the doors and windows.
Using Medicine Bags as Protection.
This one is used more for self-protection and is carried with great honor. It is a private personal thing that “enables you to create” your own personal power by carrying the energy of things that are important to you. I wrote a lens called Our Power Within
I have several medicine bags. I made mine and filled them items that are important to me. NEVER tell others everything you carry in your medicine bag-in a sense that is giving away the medicine of the bag.
So how do I assemble a medicine bag?
Many moons ago, I wanted to carry a medicine bag but had no idea what went inside of them. I called a Shaman friend of mine and explained what I wanted to do. I was told that what goes into a medicine is private and personal. So after thinking about this for a long time, I decided to do research and find my answers in between the lines.
Inside a medicine bag, you can place things such as: Crystals, herbs, locks of hair, horse’s hair, stones, jewelry, pieces of pottery, and little bottles of earth… anything that is important to you and can fit in the bag that makes you feel safe.
In one of my medicine bags, I have a piece of root that a Medicine Man gave to me. I sat up at a pow-wow one time (selling my herbal products) and this medicine man was hanging out at my table reading all of the ingredients in my medicinal teas. He asked me where I got the recipes and I explained to him, “to be honest, I was given them from Spirit.” He smiles, nodded and said, “Very good combinations.” He asked me if I heard of this certain root and I said no, and he took a piece from his medicine bag and handed it to me. I broke off a small piece of it and tasted it. I placed the remaining piece in my medicine bag and to this very day, it is still there. That has been years ago. This is a little of my own personal story if you would like to read it: The Journey to my Naming Ceremony
I have several medicine bags that I have assembled, one I keep on me at all times, one for my car that stays there at all times, and a few others. When you make a medicine bag for safe traveling, add herbs that are used for protection while traveling such as comfrey, five finger grass and woodworm.
After I assemble my medicine bags, I always ask “Spirit” to bless them. Medicine Bags are wonderful for personal protection. I have even made some and given them away because I was lead to do so at “Give away ceremonies”.
Always remember: follow your intuition, believe in your inner voice, trust in the items you have to protect you and your home and ALWAYS believe in YOU!

I love the idea of medicine bags – I do carry a small pouch of crystals. and I cleanse the house using a slightly different approach but I do set my own guardians in place when I leave the house for any long length of time like a holiday. This has been a very interesting Journey thankyou xx

Thanks Rosie. Carrying a crystal bag is very much a medicine bag, because you believe in the energy of the crystals. Oh, yes setting those guardians in place is always important. Plus you know I do other things like the “bottles” (I believe we have talked about them before)
I will be writing part-3 as soon as I get a chance. I will let you know when it is done. It will be about symbols.

The mystic has always interested me.
There’s something about the things we don’t understand….
Hopefully someday our science will catch up.
